Jo has a passion for tourism businesses with over fifteen years’ experience in the industry. She has worked in Destination Marketing and headed up two key UK destinations - Stratford Upon Avon and Oxfordshire. Jo currently assists the very successful Visit Dartmoor Tourism Organisation as their Strategic Director and is currently managing both Visit South Devon and Conference Plymouth.
Five years ago, Jo moved back to her home county of Devon and worked for the prestigious Bovey Castle Hotel and Buckland Tout Saints (both part of the Eden Hotel Collection) in a Business Development Role, building new corporate links and raising the profile of both hotels in the South West.
During her time in Devon, Jo was invited to be part of the Visit Dartmoor team - working with them to develop tourism strategies and marketing campaigns. Visit Dartmoor is the Tourism Delivery Partner to Dartmoor National Park Authority, Jo, Simon and Jen have worked together to help position Visit Dartmoor as a key player on the local and national tourism platforms.
Visitor Information Centres are also a passion for Jo. Over the years Jo has managed various VIC's in key destinations and most recently has set up Tavistock VIC as a volunteer/charity run operation. Jo is currently working with VIC's in South Devon to help them become more commercial and self funding.
Jo is also proud to be managing Conference Plymouth and helps to shape plans and develop new initiatives designed to put Plymouth on the map as a key destination for conferences, meetings and events, both in the South West and nationally.
Currently Jo is heading up tourism for Visit South Devon and helping them to develop a new way of working as a key Destination Management Organisation in Devon.
Furthermore Jo has recently worked with the English National Parks Experience Collection as part of the Discover England fund project with Visit England. Jo has helped tourism businesses on Dartmoor, Exmoor and The Cotswolds develop new bookable experiences and helped them to work with the international markets through the Travel Trade.
Jo is delighted to support one of the local tourism organisations in her area and has now become a Committee member of the Tamar Valley Tourism Organisation. Jo is helping them to become a new Destination Management Organisation, Visit The Tamar Valley and helping them to deliver their new Destination Management Plan.
